My name is Frank Cvetovac and I am the Director of Sales and Operations for Epic Plastics in Lodi CA. At Epic, we purchase recycled milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, etc. (which would otherwise be sent to state landfills) from local material recovery facilities such as Waste Management and Allied Waste. These materials are sorted, sized, and washed in preparation for our manufacturing of a complete landscape lumber product line that is distributed to professional and retail outlets across the United States.

Being one of the only vertically integrated facilities in our industry, support from environmentally minded organizations is paramount to our exposure and success. For several years now, I have been working directly with the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce and more specifically, their Green Team initiatives. Events such as the REXPO and Lunch at the Landfill create outstanding venues for eco-friendly businesses to meet and bump elbows with their customers, communities, legislators, and representatives. The team at the Greater Stockton Chamber has reached state wide recognition for their efforts in support of the green movement and is being used as a reference and benchmark for new program launches across CA.

With all do respect to your priorities and current obligations, I would recommend that you take a close look at the impact the Stockton Chamber and Green Team San Joaquin are having on the community. As a strong advocate of the green movement, and especially green business, I firmly believe that there is a much larger story in regards than what has been reported to date. Other chamber members would agree that the benefits are well worth the investment and those local businesses who aren’t members, should consider joining. Feel free to contact me using the info below at anytime to discuss.

Thanks in Advance for Your Support.

Positive events indeed happen in Stockton! The Green Team of San Joaquin, Allied Waste and the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce are to be commended for a the very successful “Lunch at the Landfill” at Allied Wastes’ Forward Landfill. The efforts of the Green Team San Joaquin to provide jobs and new business for our area were showcased during the luncheon. They have proven that cooperation between private industry and government can work! Admission to this great event was a donation of an unwrapped toy for the Child Abuse Prevention Council and many were donated. We should be proud of our community and all that are working so hard to make it even better!

I recently had the pleasure of attending “Lunch at the Landfill” sponsored by The Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce, Allied Waste Management and others on 12-14-2011. This event was held in support of the Child Abuse Prevention Council and each attendee provided a holiday toy for a needy child. As a member of the Chamber I’m continually impressed at the efforts the Chamber’s Green Team San Joaquin puts into making these events a success. The Green Team makes the connection between operating a greener and environmentally responsible business with the economic case to do so through supporting local businesses, reducing the distance at which goods and services travel, and promoting local job efforts. Lunch at the landfill is a celebration of this effort and shows the benefits to reducing our waste stream while spurring local investment and jobs. Its efforts like these that make Granite Construction proud to be a Chamber member and we encourage local business to take a second look if you’ve considered joining.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY FAIR

Stockton, CALIF. – The San Joaquin County Fair is off to a new level of marketing and promotional sophistication, thanks to the recent alliance of several new key players. Leading the charge is Kate Post, Executive Director of the Stockton Asparagus Festival, who, in addition to her current position with the Asparagus Festival, will also become San Joaquin County Fair’s Director of Sponsorship Development and Marketing. Joining her in the new effort is Drew Palmer, Agency Principal of Palmer Advertising, LLC, who has successfully promoted the Stockton Asparagus Festival for the past 13 years, and has worked with Ms. Post during that tenure.

“This is the first time that the San Joaquin County Fair has placed such a high importance on sponsorship development and marketing,” noted Janet Covello, Interim CEO, San Joaquin County Fair. “We’re extremely excited to take on that challenge, and equally excited it’s being led by Kate Post.”

“It’s the perfect blend of talent, bringing Ms. Post and Mr. Palmer together for the Fair,” stated Doug Wilhoit, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. “They have been tremendously successful with the Stockton Asparagus Festival over the years, and we’re all excited that they’ll now be working on the San Joaquin County Fair.”

“We’ve created a successful formula of venue creation, sponsorship and media participation that was in use for over a decade at the Asparagus Festival,” noted Kate Post, the Fair’s new Director of Sponsorship Development and Marketing. “Now we’ll use our experience and resources to take the San Joaquin County Fair to a new level of sponsors and attendance.”

“I’m very excited to take on this new challenge, especially since I’ll be working with Kate’s extensive promotional experience,” added Drew Palmer. “We have a lot of exciting marketing tactics planned for the Fair, including social media, mobile applications and Internet marketing, along with traditional marketing efforts.”

“This is an extremely important time for the Fair,” stated Nanette Martin, President, San Joaquin County Fair Board of Directors. “Bringing in experience and talented people will help to propel next years fair to a new level in many different areas, from the advertising and marketing to sponsor participation. We’re hoping to generate a lot of new interest in the upcoming San Joaquin County Fair.”

The Fair is scheduled to run September 20th – 30th, 2012. The fair will be hosting 8 days of horseracing, one of only 6 racing fairs in the State of California.
