A Program
of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce
Join
the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce as we work for the
improvement of our economic environment. Help us provide
programs tailored to the unique needs of manufacturing,
industrial and distribution companies. If you want to work with
manufacturing, industrial and distribution companies to promote
growth and business retention in San Joaquin County, plan to
attend the next meeting of the Manufacturers Industrial
Distribution Roundtable (MIDR).
The
Manufacturers Industrial Distribution Roundtable (MIDR)
advocates for manufacturing, industrial and distribution
companies throughout San Joaquin County. The MIDR promotes
business growth and retention. Members
of the MIDR meet periodically to discuss issues directly
affecting their industries. After learning about these issues,
the MIDR directs the resources of the Chamber to solve the
problem. The efforts of the Manufacturers Industrial
Distribution Roundtable have improved the local economic climate
and increased the quality of life for San Joaquin County
residents. Members
of the Chamber bring new issues to the MIDR throughout the year.
To respond, the MIDR creates subcommittees and task forces to
address issues of economic concern. New task forces are created
every year. Here are a few examples of past and current MIDR
projects: Fees/Assessments: The
MIDR assists the County and City in developing fees and
assessments that are more competitive with surrounding
communities. One possible solution involves creating public /
private partnerships. Labor
Law: The
MIDR works to create a safe and productive work environment for
employees. Task forces direct Chamber efforts to spot and stop
legislation that jeopardizes the employers' right tot hire &
fire, choose benefits offered and retain a high quality
workforce. Water
and Other Growth Issues: The
MIDR monitors the impact of complex local, state and federal
regulations on our water resources. These efforts have protected
water quality for agricultural industries, businesses and
residents of San Joaquin County. Regulatory
Issues: The
MIDR serves as a "watchdog" to keep local
manufacturers, industrial firms and distributors informed about
pending regulatory issues. The Roundtable educates elected
officials about the impact their actions have on local
businesses. Import
/ Export Issues: MIDR
subcommittees continue to focus on the impact that NAFTA, the
Port of Stockton, Stockton Metropolitan and the Foreign Trade
Zone Designation have had on the local economy. Education: MIDR
task forces direct the efforts of educational resources such as
the BEA to increase the number of
qualified manufacturing, industrial and distribution
workers. If
your company is a manufacturer, industrial firm or distributor
with an issue affecting your prosperity, contact a member of the
MIDR today! If you are interested in joining the efforts to
improve the economic environment in which you do business, plan
to attend the next meeting of the Manufacturers Industrial
Distribution Roundtable (MIDR).
