Green
Team San Joaquin Has Busy Month
OCTOBER
2007 - October was a very busy and exciting month for Green Team San
Joaquin. On October 11, 2007, a Symposium on Air Quality was held at the
Stockton Grand Hotel. Many of San Joaquin County’s businesses turned
out to learn about the state of air quality here in San Joaquin County.
News10’s Darla Givens spoke about the resources the media provides in
ensuring timely notification on “Spare the Air days”.
Lesley Miller from Commute Connection informed the crowd about
the services that are available to employees and employers to assist
them in creating carpools and vanpools. Mike Martin, a Board Member for
Valley Clean Air Now, educated the group on the grants that are
available and the programs they have to assist in reducing our Air
Pollution. Rick McVaigh from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution
Control District provided a very detailed summary of the major
contributors to our Air Pollution Problems and the expected timeline of
compliance with the EPA. There was a question and answer session
following each speaker, which allowed all attendees to ask questions.
On
October 4, the first ever Symposium on Solar (SOS) was held at the North
Hall of the Civic Auditorium. This was an opportunity to listen to Sue
Kateley from the California Solar Industry Association and David Rubin
from Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Attendees were able to learn the
financial benefits of using solar energy and had the opportunity to
visit with the area’s finest solar installers.
Green
Team San Joaquin is looking forward to another busy month for the month
