DECEMBER
2006 - It’s the first farm show of the year on the West Coast, and
you’ll definitely want to be there! Join us at Stockton Ag Expo 2007
for a terrific event dedicated to the farm industry, and featuring
equipment and services for the smallest to the very largest of
growers.
This
year the Stockton Ag Expo is very excited to announce the Secretary of
Food and Agriculture, A.G. Kawamura, will be speaking at noon on
Tuesday, Jan. 16, the first day of the show. He will share his thoughts
on agriculture and environmental issues facing Californians today.
As
part of the Ag Expo experience, we are proud to feature our third Annual
Recycling Expo (REXPO) and joining the REXPO this year will be Valley
CAN’s (Clean Air Now) Energy & Clean Air Business Expo. Exhibits
will present recycled content products, alternative fuels and energies
and green practices. There will also be seminars on the latest
technologies and up-to-date information on the new laws impacting
agriculture, recycling and air quality issues not just in the San
Joaquin Valley, but throughout California.
For
those of you who are antique truck lovers, Frank Mauro of Stockton Wheel
is gathering a bevy of classic trucks that will be displayed in all
their glory during the show. You’ll see the pride of their owners
dedicated to preserving the past through the restoration of their
favorite trucks.
As
always we will have a working exhibit of early day gas engines and
antique tractors that is sponsored by “Chuggers,” a feature at the
Stockton Ag Expo since its beginning thirty years ago. Set off in the
livestock exhibit areas of the fairground, the gas engines and old-time
tractor exhibits are easy to locate. Because of their chugging,
whistling, and tooting, you just need only follow the sounds to find
them. Go back in time everyday at 3 pm when these old tractors come to
life for our antique tractor parade down the midway.
Show
times are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Jan. 16 and 17, and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
on Jan. 18. Admission is only $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for children ages
6-12, and free to those younger, accompanied by an adult. FFA and 4-H
members in uniform are admitted free. As always, parking is free at the
San Joaquin Fairgrounds, and we’ll have shuttle buses ready to pick
you up and get you to the gate, thanks to the terrific folks at the San
Joaquin County Office of Education. For more information, call 547-2960.
