New Windows a big Boost for Rescue MissionMay 2007 -- Representatives from HBF Delta presented a $4,000 grant to the Stockton Gospel Center Rescue Mission to provide new windows for the Edna Gleason Medical Facility, which is currently under construction. The Gospel Center Rescue Mission has been active in Stockton for nearly 70 years, working to provide food, clothing, shelter, education, counseling, substance abuse treatment, spiritual support and follow-up assistance for the homeless in Stockton and San Joaquin County. "We felt that supporting such an organization that gives back to our community through education and counseling would greatly benefit the homeless and indigent; thus, helping our community thrive." said Gary Brock of G & L Brock Construction, who was on hand to present the check on behalf of HBF Delta. While HBF Delta has provided the monetary means for the new windows, The 25th Anniversary Class of Leadership Stockton has donated its time and physical efforts to seeing this project through. Leadership Stockton is a program designed to inspire a new generation of men and women ready to assume leadership roles in our community; it challenges and prepares individuals from diverse backgrounds to become influential in our region's future. Throughout the 2006 and 2007 year the classmates of Leadership Stockton have worked diligently on the Edna Gleason Medical Facility; from working on the roofs center beam and trusses and now on inserting all of the windows. The partnership between HBF Delta and Leadership Stockton will allow the Gospel Center Rescue Mission to continue with its construction and grand opening plans for this fall. "Without the generosity of both HBF Delta and Leadership Stockton much of our efforts would have been delayed; in turn, this would have greatly affected the homeless and sick populations of this city," said Gospel Center Rescue Mission's Executive Director Bill Brown. The Gospel Center Rescue Mission is located on S. San Joaquin Street. The Mission provides transitional housing, drug & alcohol programs and a religious relief for the homeless men, women and children in San Joaquin County. The Rescue Mission strives to find adequate jobs & housing for those clients who seek help & provide change. For more information, visit their website at www.gcrm.org. The Home Building Foundation of the Delta was founded by BIA of the Delta in August 2005 as a non-profit charity serving San Joaquin County. HBF Delta's Officers and Board of Directors consist of employees of local Banks, Law Firms, Title Companies, Non-profit Home Builders and local Home Builders; along with city representatives from Ripon, Tracy, Manteca, Lodi and Stockton. HBF Delta strives to serve our local communities through financial support of public charities in the greater San Joaquin County area of California. |
