A
Message from Chamber President Rick Aschieris:
Chamber
Member Provides Unique View of the Area
SEPTEMBER
2007 - One
of the newest members of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce is
Delta River Cruise. Owned by Willie and Lorraine Feltus, Delta River
Cruise is a relatively inexpensive and easy way for chamber members and
their guests to tour the Delta — sampling first hand the wide variety
of Central Valley and Delta experiences.
Basic
cruises are on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6
p.m., and 8 p.m. The fare is $16 per adult and $15 for children and
seniors for a 90-minute journey where Delta River Cruise passengers will
see first hand the important progress being made in Downtown Stockton.
Passengers will see the new downtown arena, which is home of the
Stockton Thunder hockey team and the Stockton Lighting arena football
team, and an already popular venue for concerts and other traveling
events.
As
a guest of Delta River Cruise, passengers will also see the new Downtown
Sheraton Hotel and Stockton Ballpark, one of the highest–rated minor
league baseball parks in the nation and home of the Stockton Ports, a
farm team of the Oakland A’s.
The
Delta River Cruise experience then takes passengers by the Port of
Stockton. Passengers are told about the Port being the second busiest
inland port in the Western United States, setting ship-call and tonnage
records in 2005 and in 2006, and not
taxing the citizens of Stockton while creating hundreds of family-wage
jobs for our area. (Yes, I admit this is a shameless plug — but it’s
my column for the year!)
Passengers
will also see some of the most beautiful waterfront homes in Stockton
passing by Atherton Island and Atherton Cove. From the water, passengers
will get a truly unique water-side view of the Stockton Golf and Country
Club and its new clubhouse.
From
there, Delta River Cruise will take you west into the rural delta where
you will see all types of recreational boaters, farmers tending their
fields, and fishermen “doing their best”. Meanwhile passengers will
also enjoy incredible views of Mt. Diablo to the Sierra Foothills.
Combine these views with a cruise at sunset and a favorite beverage from
the onboard bar, and you will be able to enjoy a truly unique view of
the City of Stockton, the Port, and the beautiful rural delta in just a
few minutes.
Delta
River Cruise also offers a Sunday Brunch Cruise for $35 per person, and
for the truly ambitious, a once a month $175 seven-hour cruise to San
Francisco, weather permitting, with a return via Amtrak.
Welcome
Delta River Cruise to the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce!
Delta
River Cruise departs from 445 W. Weber Avenue, Stockton behind the
Waterfront Warehouse and can be contacted by telephone at (209) 942-4372
or through their website: info@deltarivercruise.com
