SEPTEMBER
2007 - There is the old saying that “a picture is worth a
thousand words” and I know that I have written close to that number of
words in this column the feeling and support of the Chamber and myself
of the vision, courage, hard work and dedication that city elected
officials, staff and investors in the future who have committed
themselves to over the past nine years or so for the betterment of this
entire city and region for those of us here now and those who will be
here in the future.
They
have done this all while taking unfair and at sometimes vicious personal
and political attacks from a small but vocal naysayer group who try to
rule by philosophy not good public policy.
The
recent photos from the Record: the
unveiling of the logo for the for the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game to be held
here in Stockton on January 23, 2008 and Clifford Oto’s photo (Page 2
of the Port O Call and featured abbove) of your CEO highlighting, at the
All-Star Game press conference, the Record story announcing Stockton as
the #10 (with the Ports,
Thunder, Lightning & Cougars) most successful city out of 242 cities
with minor league teams and #1 in economic impact speaks volumes about
the decisions made by those mentioned above.
Please go to recordnet.com for the full stories on each.
Also
I encourage you to pay close attention and participate in the City
General Plan process because if you do not the small vocal philosophers
and status quo tunnel vision folks could adversely affect the future of
your family and business. The
city council and staff have a plan that will ensure economic growth and
a better quality of life for all! A
small band of people who have threatened to sue even before the process
is finished (says a lot doesn’t it)
are only interested in their little corner of their universe and
do not truly have the entire
community interests at heart only their own view of the world.
Please be part of the future and we will see success in all of
our community just as these photos show the tip of the iceberg of what
is to come in the great City of Stockton!
