A Message from Chamber President Dennis Goldstrand:

Roundtable provides

useful business information

OCTOBER 2008  -  The Manufacturers Industrial Distribution Roundtable (MIDR) provides a forum for the exchange of information on issues affecting members. MIDR members leverage their collective influence to forward pro-business consideration on business issues in Stockton and San Joaquin County.

Not only are they active in promoting best management practices, they are a driving force in providing our local educational institutions with input on the development of training programs that meet the needs of local employers. It provides and promotes programs with networking opportunities for manufacturing and industry that encourage growth and business retention, and advocate the improvement of the economic climate and quality of life in our community.

The MIDR has grown into an organization that represents the majority of active, large industries within San Joaquin County. Our co-chairs are Jim Cavezza, DC District Manager of Toys R Us Distribution and Ron Skaggs of Condor Earth Technologies.

In past MIDR meetings, guests have included representatives from San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, Central Valley Regional Water Control Board, San Joaquin Council of Governments, Cal-OSHA, Independent Systems Operator (ISO), San Joaquin County Sheriff, California Intergraded Waste Management Board, California Air Resources Board and the City of Stockton Municipal Utility Department.

The MIDR has also invited local, state and federal elected officials and policy makers to update our members on pending or upcoming legislation that could affect business operations in San Joaquin County.  Issues that were addressed by the MIDR have been on Workers’ Compensation, storm water runoff, environmental compliance, air quality, workforce, copper theft, security, energy, OSHA regulations, roads and regional planning.

The group meets monthly, usually on the second Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at various locations. Please contact Frank Ferral at 547-2770 for more information.
